About Me
Life in 5 is…
A wordsmith, intellectual magpie, unapologetically me and self-proclaimed enemy of the ordinary, living in sunny Queensland, Australia.
Lover of life, boss of my husband and dog, and slave to a cat – here to offer up a vitamin rich diet of random postings, riffs and raves gleaned from many years of juicy living and learning.
My mission in life? Apart from savouring the pleasures of good wine, great coffee and tasty meals (any that I don’t have to cook), I get kind of excited when I can help others live life large and be fully fabulous. And I can’t manage that, I’ll settle for a smile, the occasional laugh and even making you go hmmmmm.
Born to shine, or at least twinkle! Contrary to my sisters’ belief that I’d been dropped on my head at birth, I came bouncing into this world with a distinct creative bent and I haven’t been able to get it into shape since.
Fondly described by one sister as a ‘dozy kid’, I masked my talents well and they barely heard a peep out of me until I began singing and dancing around the house at the tender age of two + a bit. Said sisters figured there must have been some stray Shirley Temple gene somewhere (despite the fact that no-one else in the family had ever shown the slightest thespian tendencies) and begged my mother to take me to dance classes. Though I think it went a little more like this … “For heavens sake do something with her before she drives us nuts!”.
And that as they say was that. On went the tap shoes and sequins and the very first tiny tot song and dance routine “How’d you like to be a baby girl” led to a career that spanned theatre, choreography, musical comedy, media and even belting out a few numbers with a Big Band.
Somewhere along the way life, love and marriage happened and yours truly knuckled down to the serious business of working as a television journalist and presenter, and later launching my own full-service marketing and creative agency.
What gets me out of bed in the mornings? Apart from the fact that my husband has pinched the blanket and the dog is whining for his walk? Getting other people fired up about living their best life … and living it creatively. I’m a big subscriber to the Albert Einstein theory that goes something like this “Creativity is just intelligence having fun!” Albert rocks. Right brainers unite, the future is ours!
